Heading to the local art crawl in the city's heart, I receive a text from Mitch telling me Annie Shaw is playing at a bike shop nearby. I make my way through the downtrodden cityscape of foreign food stores and half abandoned buildings to find on the corner of James and Barton a myriad of sound coming from a humble little place across the street. Crossing over and through the door into a well lit room with bikes on every surface except the floor and the stairs, sits Annie. Surrounded by a crowd of music lovers and strangers drawn off the street, she finishes a song. A silence and a light smile later she begins another.
